Soundwaves of New
England has recently been to Seattle to participate in the "Train
in the Rain" training program to become certified by the high-end industrial electronics
company, AudioControl,
to operate their specialized, digital calibration and correction equipment
to tune any audio system to bring out it's full potential.
According to
Soundwaves’ owner, Darren Grebe, “The drastic difference between an
uncorrected Home Theater Room and a fine-tuned room, is immediately apparent
when you’ve been able to compare them. Most people have not even heard a
correct room, as most are simply “adjusted” with no equipment and no
experience. I’ve been trained to judge as objectively as possible the
characteristics of a system within a certain room, and I’m now certified
to use the “Iasys HT” Digital Home Theater Analyzer, the “SA-3052”
1/3 octave Real Time Analyzer, along with the units that can actually
perform the correction; the Diva, Bijou and Maestro systems. I can now
bring out a system's FULL potential.”

The use of the Iasys HT and the
SA-3052 allow the
certified
calibrator to adjust frequency response (so that you have a balanced
system from the lowest note to the highest note), phase relationship
(which makes everything happen in the same “phase” for cohesiveness), level
adjustment (so that all speakers are truly the same volume) and time
alignment (which makes sure all the sounds arrive at your ear at
precisely the same time – within 1 microsecond). Additionally, the Iasys
HT allows us to apply digital filters and limiters to protect your system,
digital compressors so you can listen at night without waking up the kids,
and it has parametric equalizers which are like surgical lasers, allowing
them to directly hone in on small anomalies and eliminate them with no
adverse effects.
The “Diva” digital room correction processor is an industrial, 8
channel, 24-bit digital processor with memories. The time alignment feature
alone can dial-in your system so that it can digitally “move” a speaker
forward or backward by as little as 1/8”. This unit will bring out ALL the
potential in almost ANY system.
AudioControl has been in business for over 30 years and has been the
leader in acoustical measurement & correction devices, processors,
amplifiers and equalizers. They are located north of Seattle in the Pacific
Northwest and EVERY unit they produce is Made In America! Plus, being
in the Northwest, they have been a Green
company for some time. Not only do they use lead-free solder, but they are a
zero-discharge company, meaning that they discharge no liquids except water.
A truly amazing fact when you consider the waste generated by manufacturing
facilities. Darren Grebe states, “I’ve been working closely with AudioControl since the early 90’s in the car audio industry and I own (and
love) some of their equipment. When it came time for me to be certified, I
chose AudioControl because of my experience and their reputation. I
couldn’t be happier.”
After a room is corrected, the final result is a more lifelike,
engrossing experience while watching movies – in fact, you will become
part of the movie – just like the director intended. After all, some of
these movies used Audio Control equipment during their production. It also
makes your music listening experience more lifelike and satisfying.

Soundwaves of New England is now a proud member of CEDIA.
CEDIA certified installers,
designers and businesses are considered the best trained, most
compadent, and most knowledgable in the industry. CEDIA's
strengths are education and certification. Since 2002, Darren Grebe of
Soundwaves has held both CEDIA Certified Installer Level I and Level
II certificates. These certificates are the difference between a
"trunk slammer" who may not be here tomorrow, and the
companies that are invested in their own future and the future of the
industry. |
